Another Monday is here!
Are you someone who suffers Mondayitis, or someone who loves the first day of a new work week?
I personally love Mondays, that fresh week feeling, to grab my life by the horns and see what I can accomplish. To leave that bad day (or days) last week, back in last week, and to move forward with gusto! To ride that high of those great days and allow them to give us the boost and motivation for the week ahead!
Are you working hard towards achieving your goals and dreams? Or has something got in the way?
I have realised, and known for a couple of years now, that my life lacks structure. I don\’t work a Monday to Friday type of job and the rotating roster life often has my goals in the back seat. While \”rest\” and \”play\” are riding up the front seat with me, my goals have really been left behind.
Letting goals slip isn\’t the end of the world, though it can be saddening and frustrating, we can\’t get back the time from the past. We do however, have a new Monday! And the ability to reevaluate what our goals were, what they are now, and what we need to implement to achieve them.
Staying focused and working towards your goals. The working toward your goals part of the previous sentence comes easy to me, I am researching, I am practicing, I am creating, but I am not really putting in those final steps that are needed to see any result. Staying focused! But you need to have a clear something to focus on.. The end goal and those final steps that are needed to achieve it!
What are your goals now? What were your goals 6 weeks ago?
Life changes, every day, new opportunities for success or an annoying thing can go wrong. We grow, relationships change, we move. Our lives are a constant ebb and flow on our journey, and these waves can impact our goals and our abilities to achieve them.
Sundays often have me reevaluating the week that has just past, and giving myself a few goals for the week ahead. One of the main points I realised last week was how my goals have changed, as I and my circumstances have changed. That\’s ok! We just need to learn how to adjust things, as they are needed, to make it work.
What do you need to do to achieve your goals?
On Sunday, I wrote up a bit of a plan for my week ahead, and hopefully for many weeks ahead. I have given myself some tasks to complete each day of the week. Ideally I\’ll be able to manage all of them, but I will not beat myself up if I don\’t. This is the first week I am implementing my new to-dos, I am hoping to break them down into timed slots so that I will have a bit of a structured timetable to work to.
If you look at the success stories of the successful people (who weren\’t born into it), there is a LOT of hard work. They lived and breathed by their dreams in order to make it happen. How badly do you want it?!
Are your goals long term or short term? What do you do when you achieve them?
Personally, I think it\’s great to have both long term and short term goals. The short term goals should be stepping stones to achieving your long term goal/s though. Break things down into achievable intervals. And what do you do when you achieve a goal? Have a celebration! Then come back down, learn from the experience, reevaluate your goals and make a new short term goal in its place, or work towards the next step of achieving that long term goal.
Goal identifying questions:
- What are your goals and dreams?
- Are your goals long term or short term?
- How are you working towards your goals?
- How did you respond when something got in the way of achieving your goals?
- What were your goals 6 weeks ago?
- How have your goals changed as you have changed?
- What are the steps you need to take to achieve your goals?
- Do you have a plan for when you achieve a goal?
I hope you give these questions a go and they help you on your goal getting journey!
This is a bit of a Monday morning, coffee in hand, unplanned blog post that hopefully didn\’t turn too preachy. I am not a professional in this field, just a Monday Motivated lady wanting to spread some goodness.
Please leave any questions about the post or any tips about your goal getting journey in the comments.
And that first question again,
Do you love Mondays?
Hope you have a wonderful week!
